Meet the Heart Behind Serenity Sleepers: From the Classroom to Helping Families Sleep Better
Hi, I'm Kelley, the founder of Serenity Sleepers!
Whether you're new here or have been following along for years, I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself, share the story behind Serenity Sleepers, and tell you a little more about why helping families find restful sleep means so much to me.
My journey into pediatric sleep consulting actually began long before I became a mother or started my business. It began in the classroom.

Where My Passion for Children's Sleep Began
Before becoming a certified pediatric sleep consultant, I was a schoolteacher.
During my time teaching, I began noticing firsthand how significantly a lack of sleep could affect my students. I saw children struggle with focus, learning, emotional regulation, and simply getting through their school day.
It sparked a curiosity that quickly became a passion.
I wanted to understand more than just the effects of insufficient sleep. I wanted to understand why children were struggling with sleep in the first place and what could be done to help. I began diving into research about children's sleep, healthy sleep habits, and the connection between sleep, behavior, learning, and development.
The more I learned, the more I realized just how important quality sleep is for a child's overall well-being. Little did I know, that curiosity would eventually lead me down an entirely new career path.
When My Passion Became Personal
While I was still teaching, I became pregnant with my first child. With everything I had learned about the importance of sleep, I knew I wanted to establish a healthy sleep foundation for my baby from the very beginning. Starting in the newborn stage, I focused on understanding his sleep needs, recognizing his cues, and creating age-appropriate sleep habits that could grow with him. And those early foundations made a meaningful difference for our family.
Today, that little baby is a teenager, and he continues to be a wonderful sleeper!
Of course, every child is different, and what works for one family may not work for another. But that experience strengthened my belief in the value of understanding children's sleep needs and building healthy habits early. As time went on, friends and family began reaching out to me for help with their own children's sleep challenges. I became the person they called about bedtime struggles, night wakings, naps, and everything in between. I absolutely loved helping them.
How Serenity Sleepers Was Born
Eleven years ago, I decided to turn that passion into something more. I pursued my certification in pediatric sleep consulting and founded Serenity Sleepers, with a mission to help families understand their children's sleep and create healthy, sustainable sleep habits.
What began with a desire to better understand the children in my classroom grew into a business dedicated to supporting families across the globe.
Today, Serenity Sleepers provides personalized baby and toddler sleep consulting in Nashville, Tennessee, and virtually to families worldwide.
And although my business has grown and evolved over the years, my mission has remained the same: To help families feel supported, confident, and empowered as they navigate their children's sleep.
Why We Don't Believe in One-Size-Fits-All Sleep Solutions
One of the most important things I want parents to know is that no two children are exactly alike. Every child has unique needs. Every family has different routines, challenges, and goals. That's why at Serenity Sleepers, we don't believe in handing families a generic sleep schedule and expecting it to work for everyone. We take the time to understand the whole picture.
When a family comes to us struggling with frequent night wakings, short naps, bedtime battles, or changing sleep patterns, we want to understand what may be contributing to those challenges. We consider factors such as sleep environment, feeding patterns, daily routines, developmental stages, sleep cues, and age-appropriate sleep needs. Rather than focusing solely on the immediate sleep struggle, we work to identify the underlying factors that may be affecting a child's rest. Our goal isn't simply to help your child sleep better tonight.
It's to help you understand your child's sleep needs today and give you the confidence to navigate sleep as your child grows.
The Serenity Sleepers Difference: A Pediatric Sleep Consultant and OT Working Together
One of the things that makes Serenity Sleepers especially special is the expertise we bring together as a team. Alongside pediatric sleep consulting, we have a pediatric occupational therapist on our team.
Why does that matter?
Because sleep and child development go hand in hand. As children grow, their bodies, brains, sensory systems, and developmental abilities are constantly changing. These changes can influence how they settle to sleep, how they respond to routines, and what they need to feel comfortable and secure. Having a pediatric occupational therapist involved gives us an additional perspective when understanding a child's individual needs.
Together, our sleep and developmental expertise allows us to look beyond the surface of a sleep challenge and consider the bigger picture. We believe this collaborative approach is an important part of what sets Serenity Sleepers apart.
We're Here to Walk Alongside You
I know how overwhelming children's sleep challenges can feel. When you're exhausted, it's easy to wonder whether you're doing something wrong, whether your child will ever sleep better, or whether you simply have to wait for things to improve. I want you to know that you don't have to navigate those questions alone.
At Serenity Sleepers, we truly believe in walking alongside the families we support.
We listen to your concerns, answer your questions, create individualized recommendations, and guide you through the process with compassion and understanding.
We want parents to know why we're making certain recommendations, not just what to do.
Because when you understand your child's sleep, you gain something incredibly valuable: confidence. And that confidence can continue long after our time working together.
Helping Families Find Rest, Confidence, and Peace of Mind
Whether you're preparing to welcome a newborn, navigating frequent night wakings with your baby, struggling with toddler bedtime battles, or simply wondering whether your child's sleep is on track, we're here to help.
At Serenity Sleepers, we believe healthy sleep isn't about rigid schedules, perfection, or comparing your child to someone else's.
It's about understanding your child, honoring their developmental needs, and creating realistic routines that support your entire family. Most importantly, I want every parent who finds Serenity Sleepers to know two things:
You are not alone in your child's sleep struggles. And there is a path forward toward more restful nights. If you're feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, we'd love to hear your story.
We offer a FREE 15-minute discovery call where we can learn more about your family's sleep challenges and explore how Serenity Sleepers may be able to help. Here's to more restful nights, confident parents, and peaceful sleepers.
With love,
Kelley Thompson Founder & Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant Serenity Sleepers
